Trivia
- The film is a remake of the Bhojpuri hit 'Nadiya Ke Paar' from the same year, which itself was based on a popular folk tale.
- It features the iconic devotional song 'Sawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag', which became a massive hit during the monsoon season.
- Child actor Master Alok played Chandan as a boy, while adult Chandan was played by Sachin, who was not a well-known star.
- The movie was shot extensively in rural Uttar Pradesh to capture the authentic setting of the folk story.
- Despite its simple story, the film was a surprise box office success, especially in the Hindi heartland regions.
- The film's climax, involving a river and sacrifice, draws from traditional North Indian folklore themes of duty and love.
- Govind Moonis, the director, was primarily known for Bhojpuri cinema and made only a few Hindi films.
