Trivia

  • The film's title is a play on the phrase 'Gautam Govind', a common devotional chant to Lord Krishna.
  • It was one of the few films where actor Shashi Kapoor played a double role as both the hero and the villain.
  • The movie was a major box office failure, which was unusual for a Subhash Ghai film in that era.
  • Actress Reena Roy, who played the female lead, was reportedly going through a difficult personal phase during filming.
  • The climax fight between the two Shashi Kapoor characters required extensive use of early split-screen techniques.
  • Music director Kalyanji-Anandji composed the score, but the songs did not become as popular as their other hits.
