Trivia
- The film's director, Rama Rao Tatineni, was primarily known for his work in Telugu cinema, making this a rare Hindi directorial venture.
- Actor Utpal Dutt, who played Yamraj, was a renowned Bengali theatre personality, bringing a stage actor's gravitas to the mythological role.
- The movie blends social satire with fantasy, a less common mix in late-1970s Bollywood, which often favored action or family dramas.
- It features veteran character actor A.K. Hangal in a key role, continuing his streak of playing gentle, moral figures in Hindi cinema.
- The plot's premise of Yamraj going on strike and visiting Bombay is a playful, fictional twist on traditional Hindu afterlife mythology.
- Music director Kalyanji-Anandji composed the score, but the film's songs did not achieve the same popularity as their other 1979 hits.
- The film's release coincided with a period in Bollywood where fantasy and mythological themes were being experimented with outside the usual devotional film genre.
