• Jeetendra and Deven Verma first worked together in 'Lok Parlok' (1979) because the director, K. Bapaiah, wanted a comic foil for Jeetendra's straight-laced hero. Deven was specifically brought in to improvise the comedy track on set, which he did without a written script.
• In 'Jal Mahal' (1980), Deven Verma's character was the nervous sidekick who kept getting into trouble, while Jeetendra played the calm rescuer. Deven later said in an interview that Jeetendra's deadpan reactions made his own frantic comedy land harder — he'd deliberately pause to let Jeetendra's blank face sell the joke.
• During the shoot of 'Bond 303' (1985), Jeetendra and Deven Verma shared a room at a cheap hotel in Ooty because the producer ran out of budget. They spent nights rewriting the film's dialogue together, with Deven adding one-liners that Jeetendra would then deliver in his signature style.
• Deven Verma once said about Jeetendra: 'He never tried to be funny. That's why our scenes worked. I did the clowning, he did the straight face. He trusted me to take the scene wherever I wanted.'
• The only reason 'Bond 303' (1985) exists is because Jeetendra insisted on casting Deven Verma as the comic sidekick after their two earlier films flopped. The producer wanted a younger comedian, but Jeetendra said no — he wanted Deven's specific brand of deadpan humor. The film bombed anyway.
