Sangamithra(2017)
Sangamithra is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language historical adventure film directed by Sundar C. The film stars Shruti Hassan in the title role, with Jayam Ravi and Arya playing supporting warrior characters. Set in the 8th century AD, the story follows Queen Sangamithra as she fights to protect her kingdom from invading enemies. The film was announced as a big-budget production by Sri Thenandal Films and was launched at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2017. Despite the high-profile launch, the film was shelved due to financial difficulties faced by the production company following the release of Mersal. Sangamithra was never completed or released in theaters.
