Gully Boy is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language musical drama film directed by Zoya Akhtar. It stars Ranveer Singh as Murad Ahmed, an aspiring rapper from the Dharavi slums of Mumbai. Alia Bhatt, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Varma, and Vijay Raaz appear in supporting roles. The film follows Murad as he navigates an abusive home life and poverty while pursuing his passion for rap music. Inspired by the lives of Indian street rappers Divine and Naezy, the film explores themes of class struggle and self-expression. Gully Boy premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and won a record 13 Filmfare Awards. It was India's official entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. The film was released on 14 February 2019 and is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Storyline

Murad Ahmed is a poor college student living in Mumbai's Dharavi slums. His father beats him and hates his passion for rap. But Murad cannot stop writing rhymes. He meets a local rapper named MC Sher and starts performing at underground shows. With his raw talent and powerful lyrics, Murad fights to escape poverty and become a famous rapper. But his abusive father, a possessive girlfriend, and his own fears stand in his way.
