Trivia

  • The film was originally titled 'Guru En Aalu' but was also promoted with the alternative title 'Guru' in some regions.
  • Director Selva had previously worked with actor Madhavan on the successful film 'Run' (2002), which helped establish their collaboration.
  • This was one of the few Tamil films where actor Abbas played a significant supporting role as a boss, diverging from his usual lead roles at the time.
  • The movie's soundtrack was composed by Vidyasagar, marking another collaboration with director Selva after films like 'Kadhal Azhivathillai' (2002).
  • Actress Mamta Mohandas, primarily known for Malayalam films, made a rare appearance in a Tamil comedy role with this movie.
  • The film's plot exploring the conflict between ambition and personal relationships was a common theme in mid-2000s urban Tamil comedies.
  • Despite the star cast, the movie had a relatively low-key release and did not perform strongly at the box office compared to other Madhavan films of that era.
