Renigunta begins in Madurai with a young boy named Sakthi. He lives happily with his parents. One day, an antisocial man murders his parents. Sakthi is filled with rage. But then he meets four other young criminals: Pandurangan, Prem Kumar (called Dabba), Mari, and Michael. They become close friends. They treat each other like brothers.

The five boys plan an escape. They break out of prison together. Their goal is to go to Mumbai and become big gangsters. Sakthi also wants to finish his revenge. They board a train full of dreams.
