Karuppusamy Kuththagaithaarar Full Story Explained (2007)

Karuppusamy is a happy-go-lucky young man living in Madurai. He runs a small cycle stand business where people park their cycles for a fee. In his free time, he performs in stage shows during temple festivals with his friends. He is not rich, but he is content with his simple life.

Raasathi is a first-year medical student. She parks her cycle at Karuppusamy's stand every day. She lost her mother when she was very young and misses her deeply. One day, she watches Karuppusamy perform on stage. His dance moves and expressions remind her exactly of her late mother. She feels an emotional connection to him. She approaches him and proposes, but not for the usual reasons. She tells him she wants to be with him because he makes her feel like her mother is still alive. Karuppusamy is surprised and hesitant at first, but he eventually agrees.

Meanwhile, a comedy track runs parallel. Padithurai Pandi, played by Vadivelu, is a fraud who cheats people out of their money using funny tricks. He has two goons who help him. This track provides comic relief throughout the film.

There is also a character named Sakthi Kumar who follows Raasathi everywhere. She gets angry whenever she sees him. Later, it is revealed that Sakthi Kumar is actually Raasathi's cousin brother. A flashback shows that Raasathi's uncles were ruthless money lenders in Madurai. They had many enemies because of their strict lending practices. One enemy wanted revenge and accidentally killed Raasathi's mother. This tragedy caused Raasathi's father to leave his extended family and raise Raasathi alone.

In the present, Raasathi's father finds out about her love for Karuppusamy. He becomes furious. The family members, who were separated for years, unite to oppose this relationship. They lock Raasathi in a room and plan to stop her education. Karuppusamy meets her father and tries to convince him, but the father refuses. Karuppusamy then begs them to let Raasathi continue her medical studies. He promises to stay away from her. The family agrees but with a condition: Karuppusamy must never meet Raasathi again. He accepts the deal for her future.

But the family is dishonest. While Raasathi goes back to college, they secretly plan her wedding. They arrange a groom without telling her. Karuppusamy finds out about this betrayal. He becomes angry and storms into Raasathi's house. He fights all the goons the family hired to stop him. He defeats them and reaches Raasathi. He scolds the family for breaking their promise. He tells them he will support Raasathi's dream of becoming a doctor. Raasathi chooses to go with him. She leaves her family behind. Karuppusamy takes her away, promising to protect her and her future. The film ends on a hopeful note with the couple walking away together.
