
Iyarkai(2003)
Iyarkai is a 2003 Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by S. P. Jananathan in his directorial debut. The film stars Shaam as Marudhu, a sailor, and Radhika as Nancy, a fruit vendor. Arun Vijay appears in a special cameo as Mukundan, the ship captain. Bollywood actress Seema Biswas plays Nancy's sister-in-law Mercy. The story follows a sailor who falls in love with a woman waiting for a missing captain. The film is set in the coastal town of Rameswaram and features music by Vidyasagar. Despite a low budget of one crore rupees, the film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. It was praised for its cinematography, emotional depth, and unexpected climax. Storyline
A sailor named Marudhu returns to his hometown after 14 years at sea. He meets Nancy, a young fruit vendor who is waiting for a ship captain who promised to marry her. Marudhu falls in love with her, but Nancy cannot love him back because her heart belongs to the missing captain. Marudhu must decide whether to fight for her love or let her go.
