
Appu(2000)
Appu is a 2000 Indian Tamil-language romantic action thriller film directed by Vasanth. The film stars Prashanth, Devayani, and Prakash Raj in lead roles. The story follows a Mumbai taxi driver who discovers that a woman he loves has been sold into a brothel run by a ruthless transgender owner. As he fights to rescue her, he uncovers a painful connection to his own sister's death. The film is a remake of the Hindi film Sadak (1991) and features a soundtrack composed by Deva with lyrics by Vairamuthu. Prakash Raj's performance as the antagonist Maharani received critical acclaim. The film was released on 16 June 2000.

Storyline
A Mumbai taxi driver named Appu falls in love with a woman named Seetha. But Seetha has been sold into a brothel by her uncle. Appu must rescue her from the clutches of Maharani, a powerful and violent brothel owner. His mission becomes personal when he learns Maharani is also responsible for his sister's death.
