Kannathaal(1998)
Kannathaal is a 1998 Indian Tamil-language devotional film directed by Bharathi Kannan. The film stars Karan, Neena, and Indhu in lead roles, with Manivannan, Vadivelu, and Vadivukkarasi in supporting parts. The story follows Kannatha, a village dancer and devotee of Goddess Amman, who is tricked into marriage by a wealthy man named Chinna Durai. After enduring rape, abuse, and the murder of her family, Kannatha is killed and burned alive. She rises from the ashes as a goddess to avenge her death. The film blends folk traditions with supernatural revenge. Ilaiyaraaja composed the soundtrack, reportedly completing all songs in one day. The Hindu praised its appeal to rural audiences, especially women. Kannathaal was released on 2 December 1998.

Storyline
Kannatha is a poor village dancer who worships Goddess Amman. A rich landlord's son tricks her into marriage, then rapes and abuses her. After her family dies and she is murdered, Kannatha returns as a goddess to seek revenge on everyone who wronged her.
