Trivia
- The film is a remake of the director Fazil's own 1996 Malayalam film 'Aniyathipraavu', which starred Shalini and Kunchacko Boban.
- Actress Shalini was only 13 years old during filming, which led to careful handling of romantic scenes to suit her age.
- The movie's famous song 'Kadhal Rojave' was originally composed by Raveendran for the Malayalam version and re-recorded in Tamil by A.R. Rahman.
- This was the debut Tamil film for actor Prashanth, who was already a star in Telugu and Kannada cinema.
- The film's success established a popular trend of 'family resistance love stories' in late 1990s Tamil cinema.
- Director Fazil initially considered other established Tamil actors but chose Prashanth for his youthful look matching Shalini's age.
- The movie's climax was shot in a single schedule at a remote hill station to maintain continuity and emotional intensity.
