Panchalankurichi(1996)
Panchalankurichi is a 1996 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Seeman in his directorial debut. The film stars Prabhu and Madhubala in lead roles, with Chandrasekar, Vadivelu, Vijayakumar, Ilavarasi, and Maheswari in supporting roles. The story follows Kitaan, an orphan raised by village chieftain Maayandi Thevar, who grows up to protect his community from a vengeful local gang. The film is set in the rural village of Panchalankurichi and explores themes of honour, sacrifice, and love across enemy lines. It received mixed reviews upon release but gained cult status over the years, particularly for Vadivelu's comedy sequences. The soundtrack, composed by Deva with lyrics by Vairamuthu, became popular. Storyline
A young boy named Kitaan loses his mother in a river accident and is adopted by village chief Maayandi Thevar. As an adult, Kitaan becomes the protector of his village. He must stop the evil Kaarisaamy from destroying Maayandi's family and reputation. Kaarisaamy uses his brother's love for Maayandi's daughter as a weapon. Kitaan must fight to save everyone he loves.
