
Mannan(1992)
Mannan is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language masala film written and directed by P. Vasu. The film stars Rajinikanth, Vijayashanti, and Khushbu in lead roles. It is a remake of the 1986 Kannada film Anuraga Aralithu, which was based on the novel Anuragada Anthapura. The story follows Krishnan, a mechanic who becomes a union leader, and Shanthi Devi, the arrogant CEO of Devi Industries. Their clash over worker rights escalates into a marriage of revenge. The film features music composed by Ilaiyaraaja, with lyrics by Vaalee. Rajinikanth made his debut as a playback singer with the song 'Adikkuthu Kuliru'. The emotional track 'Amma Endru' became a Mother's Day anthem in Tamil Nadu. The film was released on 15 January 1992 for the Pongal festival and ran for over 25 weeks in theatres. K. J. Yesudas won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for 'Amma Endru'.

Storyline
A kind mechanic named Krishnan returns to Madras to care for his sick mother. He gets a job at Devi Industries, owned by the arrogant Shanthi Devi. Krishnan becomes the union leader and clashes with her over worker rights. Shanthi Devi marries him for revenge, but her plan backfires. Their battle of wills leads to tragedy and a chance for redemption.
