9 Nelalu (also known as Tommidi Nelalu) is a 2000 Telugu-language drama film directed by Kranthi Kumar. The film stars Soundarya and Vikram in lead roles. The story follows Savitri, an orphan who becomes a surrogate mother to fund her husband's life-saving surgery after a car accident. The film explores the social stigma surrounding artificial insemination and surrogacy in Indian society. It was shot in a record 15 days and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Despite positive critical reception, the film was a commercial failure at the box office. It was later re-shot and released in Tamil as Kanden Seethaiyai.

Storyline
Savitri is an orphan who finally finds happiness when she marries Surendra, a computer programmer. But when Surendra suffers a severe head injury in a car accident, Savitri has no money for his operation. A doctor offers her a way out: become a surrogate mother for a rich couple in exchange for the surgery cost. Savitri must decide how far she will go to save the man she loves.
