Biography
Thamira was a Tamil film director, screenwriter, and producer who began his career assisting legendary filmmakers K. Balachander and Bharathiraja. He made his directorial debut with Rettaisuzhi (2010), a Tamil drama that notably featured both his mentors K. Balachander and Bharathiraja in acting roles, followed by the family drama Aan Devadhai (2018) starring Samuthirakani, Ramya Pandian, and Kavin. His films reflected a grounded, character-driven sensibility rooted in his training under two of Tamil cinema's most distinct auteurs. Thamira passed away on 27 April 2021 due to COVID-19 complications in Chennai at the age of 53.
