Gurukiran is a Kannada film music composer born in Mangalore, Karnataka, who has scored music for over 100 films across Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Tulu cinema. He debuted with the 1998 Kannada blockbuster 'A' directed by Upendra and achieved breakthrough success with 'Jogi' (2005), whose audio album broke sales records in Karnataka. A self-taught musician who began composing for Doordarshan serials, he is known for blending folk and classical elements, and occasionally performs as a playback singer and actor in supporting roles. His Tamil works include 'Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram' (2007) and the dubbed Tamil release 'Siva Nagam' (2016, originally the Kannada film 'Nagarahavu').
