Isaac Thomas Kottukapally was a Malayalam and Kannada film music composer born in Pala, Kottayam district, Kerala, who trained at the Pune Film Institute (FTII) and Trinity College of Music, London. He won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction at the 58th National Film Awards (2011) for his background score in the Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu (2010), directed by Salim Ahamed. He composed music for over 70 feature films across Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, and Hindi industries, with notable works including Thaayi Saheba (1997), Dweepa (2002), Gulabi Talkies (2008), Kutty Srank, and the Tamil film Varnam (2011). He passed away on February 18, 2021, at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy closely associated with art-house and parallel cinema, especially through his long collaboration with Kannada director Girish Kasaravalli.
