Tamilvannan is a Tamil cinema director from Elanthangudi, Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, best known for his debut film Kalvanin Kadhali (2006). He trained as an assistant director under veteran director Ezhil, working on films such as Poovellam Un Vasam and Raja starring Ajith Kumar. His debut Kalvanin Kadhali, a romantic comedy starring S.J. Suryah and Nayanthara with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, was a box office success. He subsequently directed Machakaaran (2007) and Nandhi (2011), and had a shelved project Uyarndha Manithan that was to feature Amitabh Bachchan and S.J. Suryah.
