Guru Dhanapal (2 March 1959 – 18 April 2014) was a Tamil film director primarily known for family-oriented comedy-dramas and social satire. He made his directorial debut with Unna Nenachen Pattu Padichen (1992) and gained wider recognition with Thai Maaman (1994), starring Sathyaraj and Meena, a political satire with family comedy elements. He frequently collaborated with actor Sathyaraj, also directing Maaman Magal (1995), and worked across lighter social commentary films including Periya Idathu Mappillai (1997) with Jayaram. His final film was Suyetchai MLA (2006), for which he also served as screenwriter.
