K. R. Udhayashankar is an Indian film director primarily known for his work in Tamil and Telugu cinema. He directed Poochudava (1997), a Tamil romantic film starring Abbas and Simran, and achieved his greatest success with the Telugu blockbuster Kalisundam Raa (2000) starring Venkatesh and Simran, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. His films frequently feature romantic narratives and he has worked across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi industries, including the Hindi production Kuch Tum Kaho Kuch Hum Kahe (2002). Later Telugu projects such as Baladoor (2008) with Ravi Teja and Bheemavaram Bullodu (2014) were less successful commercially.
