Veera Shankar Bairisetty is a Telugu and Kannada film director, screenwriter, and producer who began his career as an assistant director under Kodi Ramakrishna. His biggest commercial success was Gudumba Shankar (2004) starring Pawan Kalyan, a comedy-action entertainer that became a major hit. He demonstrated range across industries with Namma Basava (2005) in Kannada starring Puneeth Rajkumar, which achieved a 100-day theatrical run. He served as President of the Telugu Film Directors Association from 2014 to 2018.
