Biography
Elena Kazan is a Russian-German actress born in Moscow who works primarily in Hindi and Bengali cinema, best known for her role as Tabassum Habibi, a chronic alcoholic with a troubled past, in the 2013 Bollywood thriller John Day directed by Ahishor Solomon and starring Naseeruddin Shah and Randeep Hooda. She made her acting debut in the 2010 Bengali film Clerk opposite Prosenjit Chatterjee, followed by a cameo in Agent Vinod (2012), and later appeared in the horror film The Final Exit (2017) directed by Dhwanil Mehta. Before her film career, she had moved to India to volunteer in Kolkata and taught the German language at Max Mueller Bhavan, which led to her entry into the Indian film industry.
