Vijay’s Mersal joins 200 cr club

Meanwhile, Vijay-starrer Mersal has become a huge hit but there so many rumours about the box office collection of the movie.According to a leading Chennai-based distributor, the makers of the film on Monday officially announced that the film has grossed over Rs 200 crore worldwide in just 12 days. According to some trade reports, Mersal is the second Tamil film to have entered Rs 200 crore club after Rajinikanth’s Enthiran. Vijay has become the third south Indian actor have a Rs 200 crore grossing film to his credit after Rajinikanth and Prabhas.

Mersal has set new records in many markets. In Kerala, with Rs 19 crore gross and counting the film is all set to become the biggest non-Malayalam grosser in the state. In Malaysia, having earned Rs 17 crore gross in 12 days since its release, the film is the third biggest grosser in the country after Dilwale and Kabali. Outside India, the film has so far grossed over $11 million (Rs 71 crore) and has become the third biggest overseas grosser this year after Baahubali 2 and Raees. With Mersal, Vijay has expanded his base outside Tamil Nadu with highly impressive numbers.
