Punch Dialogue
Also called: punch line, mass dialogue
A punch dialogue is a short, declarative line — usually delivered by the hero — engineered to land as a standalone statement of character or intent. In South Indian cinema, the punch dialogue is a structural feature: writers craft them as the centerpiece of intro scenes, interval blocks, and pre-climax confrontations. Audiences anticipate them, and the film's marketing often previews them as hooks. Iconic punch dialogues become cultural shorthand long after the film's release.
