• Sunil was still a struggling comedian when Kovai Sarala recommended him for Nuvve Kavali (2000). She had seen his stage work and told the director he'd nail the comic sidekick role. That film put Sunil on the map in Telugu.
• In Ela Cheppanu (2003), Sarala and Sunil improvised an entire scene where she scolds him like a mother hen. The director let the camera roll because they kept feeding each other lines. That scene became a fan favorite.
