• For 'Udhavikku Varalaamaa' (1998), director K. S. Ravikumar cast Sangeetha first, then asked her who she wanted as her on-screen mother. She immediately suggested Kovai Sarala — they had never worked together before, but Sangeetha had watched her stage plays and insisted.
• In 'Doubles' (2000), Kovai Sarala and Sangeetha played a mother-daughter duo who constantly bicker. The comedy came from Sarala setting up a rhythm with her rapid-fire one-liners, and Sangeetha deliberately pausing a beat longer than normal — that split-second silence made the punchlines land harder.
• During the shoot of 'Mee Intikoste Yemistaru Ma Intikoste Yem Testaru' (2004), Kovai Sarala would cook sambar rice at her home and bring it to set for Sangeetha every single day — because Sangeetha had mentioned she missed home food. They ate lunch together in Sarala's vanity van for the entire schedule.
• The success of their mother-daughter pairing in 'Udhavikku Varalaamaa' directly led to K. S. Ravikumar casting them again in 'Doubles' — and that film's comic template (a loud, loving mother vs a sly, deadpan daughter) was later copied by at least three Tamil TV serials in the early 2000s.
• Sangeetha once said in a 2005 interview: 'Sarala akka doesn't just deliver lines — she throws them at you like a ball. If you don't catch it right, the scene falls flat. I learned to keep my reflexes sharp because of her.'
