• Chithra was the one who pushed for Kovai Sarala to be cast in Adhisaya Manithan (1990). The director wanted a more established comedienne, but Chithra insisted Sarala had the timing for the sci-fi comedy. That film became their first together.
• In Pondatti Rajyam (1992), Chithra deliberately slowed down her delivery to match Sarala's rhythm. Sarala's comedy relied on pauses and deadpan reactions, so Chithra would leave intentional gaps in her lines — letting Sarala's punchlines land harder. No other co-star gave her that space.
• Their pairing in Gopala Gopala (1996) directly inspired the template for the 'comedy couple' in Tamil family dramas. Director K. S. Ravikumar later admitted he wrote the comic subplot for his 1999 hit 'Muthu' after watching how effortlessly Sarala and Chithra bounced off each other in that film.
• During the shoot of Adhisaya Manithan, Sarala and Chithra shared a room in a lodge near the set. Every night, they'd rehearse the next day's scenes by swapping roles — Sarala would play Chithra's part and vice versa. They said it helped them predict each other's moves on camera.
• Chithra once told a magazine: 'Sarala doesn't just deliver lines — she listens. Most comediennes are waiting for their turn. She waits for my breath. That's why our scenes feel like a conversation, not a competition.'
