She made her acting debut as the lead in Poovilangu (1984) directed by Ameerjan, opposite Murali, and appeared in films such as Kalyana Agathigal (1985), Nethiyadi (1988), Chinnappadass (1989), and Thiruppu Munai (1989). She is widely recognized for performing the item number in the song 'Nila Athu Vaanathu Mela' in Mani Ratnam's National Award-winning film Nayakan (1987), which she performed balancing on a moving boat. She continued working in Tamil cinema into the 2000s with appearances in Kurumbu (2003), Engal Anna (2004), and Vallamai Tharayo (2008), also extending her career to television serials.
