• Director Rajamohan originally wrote Mannar Vagera as a solo hero vehicle. But after seeing Robo Shankar's comic timing in a stage show, he rewrote the script to pair him with Vimal — turning it into a buddy comedy that launched their duo.
• In Mannar Vagaiyara (2018), Vimal played the straight man while Robo Shankar did all the physical comedy. But on set, they swapped roles for rehearsals — Vimal would mimic Robo's slapstick, and Robo would deadpan Vimal's lines. That back-and-forth is why their timing feels so tight on screen.
• The success of Mannar Vagaiyara directly inspired director Rajamohan to make a third film with them — Kanni Rasi (2020). That film's village comedy template was later copied by at least two low-budget Tamil comedies in 2021, though neither matched the original pair's rhythm.
• During the Mannar Vagera shoot in a remote Thanjavur village, Vimal and Robo Shankar shared a room for 45 days. They'd stay up late improvising scenes, and Robo once admitted they 'finished each other's sentences' by the third week — a habit that carried into their next two films.
