• Kodandarami Reddy cast Kota Srinivasa Rao as the villain in 'Iddaru Iddare' (1990) after seeing his stage work. Kota was hesitant about film roles at the time, but Reddy convinced him by promising the character would have shades of grey, not just a one-note baddie.
• On the sets of 'Muta Mesthri' (1993), Kota would deliberately slow down his dialogue delivery to throw off the hero's rhythm. Kodandarami Reddy loved this — he told Kota to keep doing it because it made the hero look more flustered on screen, which heightened the tension in their face-offs.
