• Prakash Mehra cast Pran in 'Jwalamukhi' (1980) after the actor had already played iconic villain roles for two decades. Mehra wanted a fresh, sympathetic father figure — and Pran, tired of being typecast, jumped at the chance to reinvent himself.
• On the sets of 'Sharaabi' (1984), Pran would quietly rewrite his own lines to make them sharper. Mehra let him — because Pran’s instinct for comic timing was better than any script. The result? Pran’s drunk-act scenes became the film’s most quoted bits.
