• Anupam Kher personally recommended Jugal Hansraj for the lead in 'Papa Kehte Hai' (1996) after seeing him in 'Masoom' (1983) as a child actor. Kher told the director, 'He's the only one who can play this role.'
• In 'Gudgudee' (1997), Kher deliberately played the straight man to Hansraj's goofy energy. Hansraj later said Kher would whisper 'slow down' during takes to stop him from overacting, then let him loose in the next shot.
• After 'Pyaar Impossible!' (2010) flopped, Kher called Hansraj and said, 'We tried something new. That's all that matters.' They haven't worked together since, but Hansraj still sends Kher a birthday text every year.
