• Vivek was already a star when he signed Dhill (2001), but Laila was a newcomer. He personally asked director Dharani to cast her after seeing her in a Malayalam film — she hadn't even done a Tamil movie yet.
• In Three Roses (2003), Vivek deliberately slowed down his comic timing in every scene with Laila so her reactions would land. He told the crew she needed space to breathe — and the film's best laughs come from her delayed double-takes.
• After Alli Thandha Vaanam (2001) flopped, Vivek called Laila the next morning and said, 'Don't worry, I'll do another film with you.' He kept his word — they made Three Roses two years later.
