• Ranjith was a newcomer when Selva Bharathy cast him in 'Ninaithen Vandhai' (1998). The director saw him in a small TV role and took a gamble — that film flopped hard, but Ranjith still calls it his 'real break' because Selva didn't drop him after the failure.
• On the set of 'Hello' (1999), Selva Bharathy let Ranjith rewrite his own dialogues in colloquial Tamil. That film's natural, conversational tone became Ranjith's trademark style — and Selva never micromanaged his lines again.
• After 'Pasupathi c/o Rasakkapalayam' (2007) bombed, Selva Bharathy and Ranjith didn't speak for nearly a decade. Ranjith later admitted in an interview that he felt guilty — he thought his performance let Selva down. They only reconciled around 2018.
