• Sudeep was originally supposed to play a small role in Rann. But after he flew down to Mumbai and met RGV, the director rewrote the entire character of Purab Shastri around him — turning it into a full-fledged lead.
• On the sets of Rakta Charitra, RGV gave Sudeep complete freedom to improvise his Telangana dialect. Sudeep ended up writing his own lines in a mix of Telugu and Hindi — which RGV kept in the final cut without changing a word.
• Because Sudeep's performance in Rakta Charitra was so intense, RGV cast him again in the sequel — making Sudeep the only actor to play the same character across both parts of a single RGV biopic franchise.
• During the shoot of Rann, Sudeep and RGV would have late-night script sessions at RGV's office. Sudeep later said RGV never slept — he'd just keep pacing and talking scenes, and Sudeep had to keep up or lose the part.
• Sudeep said about RGV: 'He doesn't direct you. He creates a storm around you and then watches how you swim. That's terrifying, but it's also the best acting school I ever had.'
