• Pandu and Saravanan first teamed up for Pondatti Rajyam (1992) because the producer needed a quick replacement after the original lead walked out. Saravanan was a last-minute call, and Pandu had to rewrite scenes overnight to fit him in.
• On the set of Suriyan Chandiran (1993), Pandu would deliberately mess up his lines to make Saravanan laugh during serious scenes. Saravanan said that broke his concentration but also made him stay sharp — he never knew when Pandu would throw a curveball.
• During the shoot of Santosham (1998), Pandu and Saravanan shared a room in a small lodge in Tenkasi for three weeks. They cooked their own meals because the hotel food gave both of them stomach issues. Saravanan later said those nights talking about old films were the best part of the project.
• Ponmaanai Thedi (1998) was the only film where Pandu and Saravanan co-wrote the screenplay together. That script later got noticed by a young director who cast both of them in a small-budget thriller — that director was Mysskin, and the film was his debut.
• Saravanan once told a magazine: 'Pandu would call me at 2 AM to discuss a single dialogue. I'd yell at him, but I'd also be awake thinking about it. That's how much he cared.'
• In Suriyan Chandiran (1993), Pandu insisted on doing a 10-minute single-take comedy scene with Saravanan. No cuts, no retakes. Saravanan was terrified of flubbing, but Pandu kept whispering jokes between takes to keep him loose. They nailed it in one shot.
