• Director S. A. Chandrasekhar paired them for the first time in Walter Vetrivel (1993) because he needed a fresh face opposite Ponnambalam — Yuvarani was just 16 and had no prior acting experience.
• In Sendhoorapandi (1993), Ponnambalam played a violent antagonist while Yuvarani played his love interest — their scenes together had a raw, uneasy tension because he deliberately kept his performance loud and aggressive to make her nervous, which made her reactions look genuinely scared on screen.
