• Sasikumar didn't just cast Gnanasambandam in Poraali (2011) — he wrote the role of 'Kothandam' specifically for him after watching his stage play. Gnanasambandam was a theatre actor with zero film experience before that call.
• On the sets of Kutti Puli (2013), Sasikumar would deliberately mess up his lines in the first take just to make Gnanasambandam laugh. That nervous laughter became the character's signature stammer in the final cut.
• Gnanasambandam was Sasikumar's assistant director on Poraali before he was cast. They shared the same room during the shoot, and Sasikumar would wake him at 4 AM every day to rehearse dialogues.
• The success of Naadodigal 2 (2020) — their only hit together — directly led to Gnanasambandam getting his first lead role in a separate film. Sasikumar pushed producers to sign him.
• Gnanasambandam once said in an interview: 'Sasikumar doesn't direct actors. He breaks them down and rebuilds them. I was a different person after Poraali.'
• In Bramman (2014), Sasikumar gave Gnanasambandam zero dialogue for the first half of the shoot. He wanted his reactions to feel raw and unplanned. The scene where he finally speaks — a single line — got the loudest laugh in the theatre.
