Padmapriya Janakiraman is an Indian actress working primarily in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and other South Indian film industries, best known for her naturalistic performances in character-driven Tamil and Malayalam films. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut (Tamil) for Thavamai Thavamirundhu (2005), the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress for Pokkisham (2009), a National Film Award Special Mention for the Malayalam film Pazhassi Raja (2009), and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize for Mirugam (2007). A former GE Capital risk consultant and Miss Andhra Pradesh 2001 winner, she has demonstrated range across genres — playing a salesgirl in the gangster thriller Pattiyal (2006) to rural and period roles — accumulating over 60 films across six languages. After a hiatus, she returned to acting in 2022 and continues to work in Indian cinema.
