• Ilavarasu and John Vijay first shared screen in 'Etho Seithai Ennai' (2012) because director S. J. Sinu cast them as a pair of cops — Ilavarasu the senior, John the junior. John later said he took the role just to watch Ilavarasu work up close.
• In 'Ko 2' (2016), Ilavarasu played a retired police officer and John Vijay played a journalist. They never share a single scene together — their entire 'collaboration' is a phone call. John recorded his lines alone in a studio, and Ilavarasu reacted to a blank wall on set.
