• Jaishankar was already a star when UshaNandhini debuted opposite him in Veettukoru Pillai (1971). The director chose her specifically because she was a fresh face — he wanted the audience to believe a young girl could walk into a stranger's house and change his life.
• In Ponvandu (1973), UshaNandhini played a village belle while Jaishankar was a city slicker. She later said in an interview that he deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in their scenes together — so her natural, untrained pauses wouldn't look like mistakes.
• They never became close friends off-screen. UshaNandhini once mentioned that Jaishankar was very professional on set but kept to himself — they'd finish a scene, he'd nod, and walk away. No coffee breaks, no jokes.
• Their fourth film Athaiya Mamiya (1974) was a double-role comedy where Jaishankar played twin brothers. The film's success directly led to a wave of twin-role comedies in Tamil cinema through the late 70s — including major hits for other actors.
• UshaNandhini told a Tamil magazine in 1975: 'He never made me feel like a newcomer. He'd just say, 'Do it again, but this time, think of me as your annoying brother.' That's all the direction I needed.'
• Veetukkouri Pillai (1973) was a remake of a Malayalam hit. Jaishankar personally requested the producer to retain UshaNandhini as his co-star — even though the original Malayalam film had a different actress in the role.
