• Director R. Sundaram cast Jaishankar in 'Vallavanukku Vallavan' (1965) after seeing his raw energy in a small role. Sundaram bet on him as a lead, and the film became Jaishankar's first major hit — launching him as a star.
• Sundaram wrote Jaishankar's dialogue to be short and sharp — no long speeches. Jaishankar delivered them with a cold stare and a smirk. That combo became his trademark style in all four films.
