• Vinu Chakravarthy was a dialogue writer before he became an actor. He wrote the lines for Y. Vijaya's early hit 'Ninaithale Inikkum' (1979). When he decided to turn director with 'Mann Vasanai' (1983), he cast Vijaya as the female lead — she trusted him because she already knew his writing.
• On the sets of 'Mann Vasanai', Vinu Chakravarthy would rewrite scenes the night before shooting, tailoring dialogues to Y. Vijaya's natural speech rhythm. She later said he was the only director who made her feel like she wasn't acting — just talking.
• Their second film together, 'Muthal Vasantham' (1986), introduced a then-unknown composer named Ilaiyaraaja to a wider romantic genre. The film's songs became a template for 80s Tamil love ballads — directly influencing how later directors paired music with village romance.
