• For 'Khamoshi: The Musical', director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was a debutant. He cast Manisha first, then she personally recommended Nana for the role of her deaf-mute father. Bhansali was hesitant — Nana was known for intense, angry roles — but Manisha insisted he had the range.
• In 'Khamoshi', Nana played a deaf-mute character. Manisha learned sign language for her scenes with him, but Nana didn't — he relied entirely on her cues. She would subtly adjust her signing speed mid-scene to match his reactions, essentially directing his performance from inside the frame.
• During 'Agni Sakshi' shoot, Nana would deliberately stay in character as the abusive husband even between takes. Manisha later said it was exhausting but effective — she never had to fake her fear. He broke character only after the director yelled 'cut' and immediately apologized.
