• Sami was a top stunt choreographer before he turned actor. He personally trained Padmini for the sword fights in Arasilangkumari (1961). That film was their first together, and he literally taught her how to hold a weapon on screen.
• In Veeranganai (1964), Sami did all his own stunts — no doubles. Padmini matched him beat for beat in the action sequences. She later said he pushed her to do physically demanding scenes she never attempted with other co-stars.
• Padmini and Sami were close friends off-screen. She often called him 'Anna' (elder brother). After Thirumagal (1971), they never worked together again — but she remained in touch with his family for decades.
• Thirumagal (1971) was a remake of a Malayalam hit. But Padmini and Sami's version became the template for Tamil devotional family dramas that followed — films like Sampoorna Ramayanam borrowed its emotional tone.
• Padmini once told a magazine: 'Sami anna never let me feel like a heroine who needed protection. He made me fight like a warrior.' She said this in a 1972 interview about Veeranganai.
