• Director R. Sundarrajan cast Saravanan and Rohini together in 'Abhirami' (1992) because he wanted a fresh pair that looked like actual college students — not seasoned stars. Saravanan was just 22, Rohini was 23, and neither had a major hit yet.
• In 'Pettredutha Pillai' (1993), Rohini’s character was the loud, impulsive one while Saravanan played the calm foil. On set, Rohini would deliberately over-deliver her lines to throw Saravanan off, forcing him to react naturally — a trick she said made their arguments feel real.
• During the shoot of 'Nallathey Nadakkum' (1993), Saravanan and Rohini would rehearse their scenes in the car on the way to the set — but only if the driver played Ilaiyaraaja songs. They said the music helped them get into the mood without talking.
• Rohini once said in a 1994 interview: 'Saravanan never tried to act like a hero. He just stood there and let me do the drama. That made me work harder — I didn’t want to look like the only one trying.'
