• Puri Jagannadh cast Sonu Sood as the villain in 'Super' (2005) after being impressed by his towering screen presence in a small role — but Sonu almost didn't take it because he wanted to play the hero. Puri convinced him by saying the villain would be the most memorable character in the film.
• In 'Ek Niranjan' (2009), Puri wrote Sonu's character as a cold, silent assassin who barely speaks — because he realized Sonu's intensity worked best when he let his eyes and body do the talking. Sonu later said Puri was the only director who understood how to use his stillness as a weapon.
• Their third film together, 'Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap' (2011), was originally a Telugu project that Puri expanded into a Hindi film specifically to launch Sonu as a pan-India villain.
