• Chinni Jayanth was a popular mimicry artist before he turned actor. Manorama, already a legend, personally recommended him to director for 'En Jeevan Paduthu' (1988) after seeing his stage act. That film became their first together.
• In 'Nadigan' (1990), Manorama deliberately slowed down her comic timing to match Chinni Jayanth's rhythm. She told the director she wanted him to lead the scene, not her. The result is the film's most quoted comedy track.
• On the sets of 'Pongi Varum Kaveri' (1989), Manorama would make Chinni Jayanth rehearse his lines with her before every take. She refused to shoot until he was confident. He later said she treated him like her own son on set.
• Their pairing in 'Thanga Kalasam' (1988) was so well-received that it directly inspired a wave of mother-son comedy duos in Tamil cinema through the early 90s. Directors started writing specific roles for older actresses and younger male comedians because of them.
• In 'Piriyadha Varam Vendum' (2001), their last film together, Manorama improvised a line that made Chinni Jayanth break character and laugh. The director kept the take because her ad-lib was too good to cut. It's the only scene in the film where he's genuinely laughing.
